Throughout all cultures
and all times there have those who seemed to be able to tap into some
hidden force of nature and utilise that ability for the benefit of
their communities. This force has been called many names, the Dao, God, Christ,
Manitou, Universal Energy, Buddha Nature, mother nature, the names are
legion, but the principle remains the same. We ourselves prefer the term,
Universal Energy, but it really doesn’t matter. It is our understanding
that whatever “map” a healer is using they are tapping into the same
thing. Healing has many aspects but underlying all the ways in which people perform as healers lies a fundamental aim and that is to restore something to a state of wholeness; I use the word ‘something’ because it isn’t just human beings that can be in need of healing; animals, plants, all living kingdoms and even places and locations can be in need of healing. If we focus on the human being we see that they are vastly diverse and that diversity extends into the ways that they can be unwell, with the intensity of that ranging from being out of sorts to terminally ill. Over the centuries communities have always had healers within their midst, who people could turn to for help if they were ill. Each culture had its own explanation for illness and used a theoretical model of the human being as the starting point for healing. These models have varied over time and even today, where the medical model is the dominant force across much of the world there are still alternative ways of setting about restoring someone to health. One of the dominant maps used throughout history has been the idea that we are a being made up of energy and when that energy flows properly, as it was intended to do, then a person would be ‘healthy’ and that health applied to all aspects of the human being, be it physical, mental or spiritual. The remedies for any imbalance came out of that energetic model and various techniques, for instance, acupuncture, meridian therapy etc were devised to bring the body/mind/spirit complex back into harmony, for harmony is what we all wish for. Another element of this model is the assumption that our disharmony, although showing itself through the body, is caused not only by imbalance in our bodies but by a disconnection or disruption of the energy that flows throughout the Universe and out of which all manifestation comes. As we have a Universal element to us then severe problems can occur if we go out of resonance with that Universal Energy that sustains all things. Again it is part of a healers function to help re-establish the complete realignment to that Energy. The ability to heal by touch has been known and accepted for thousands of years. It involves the transfer of a healing energy from one person to another. Healing is the offering of Universal Energy with the specific aim of restoring a state of balance to the person receiving healing on all levels, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The key is that healing should always be given as an offering of unconditional love, with an approach of ‘thy will be done’. It is not for the healer to determine what the client’s spiritual needs, or desires are, however they may use their skills to help the client to achieve their own state of balance within any given circumstance. Healing can be of great value in a variety of different situations, as it allows the client to regain their own sense of balance and harmony. It is by assisting the client with the removal of blockages to their energetic system and bringing their system back into balance that the healer is able to help the client to achieve the changes they desire. These changes can happen on every level of the client’s system – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. One special advantage of this form of healing is that it can be given without the person being present. It is also very effective on animals. t has been said that our bodies are actually made up of energy that is frozen in time. However the physical body is simply the outward manifestation of many other subtle energy bodies that span from the material to the Universal. Subtle energy therapies theorise that disease can be remedied by working to redress the balance in these subtle bodies. If we redress the inner balance then the outer will follow. This is very different from the medical model that sees the body as just physical matter, somehow rather divorced from who we are and needing to be manipulated to remove our ailments. Western
medicine, to date, does not accept the idea that we are other than a material
thing and so all its efforts are designed to bring the body back into line
with the medical model, a theoretical model that contributes to the
fragment- Other cultures have devised other models of how a human being works and, from that model, devised the methods for healing an ailing person. One such system that has gained much mainstream attention in recent years is the Chinese model of the five elements and the meridians. Another system, increasingly gaining acceptance, is the chakra system, which is a linked energy system, within the body’s structure, that has major and minor energy matrices which are linking stations around the body. Any damage to the chakras can produce a disorder within the human being. In modern times there has begun a synthesis of systems as people become more and more aware of themselves as a being of energy. This synthesis is not just associated with healing the physical body but, increasingly, it is moving into dealing with mental and emotional disorder as the idea of treating the whole being gains momentum. Meridian Therapies The roots of modern Meridian Therapies lie in the Chinese energetic system, which is based on the theory of meridians in the body that distribute energy around it. Modern Meridian Therapies, as an energy based therapy, began around 1964 with the development of Applied Kinesiology which led to therapeutic techniques such as Touch for Health, Educational Kinesiology and Behavioural Kinesiology Meridian Therapies derive from the discovery made by Roger Callahan, a practising clinical psychologist, who had also studied Applied Kinesiology and Acupuncture. Roger Callahan’s first discovery in 1979, that tapping on single meridian point would cure a phobic response to water, led him to research and refine that discovery into a system that he called Thought Field Therapy. Thought Field Therapy is based on tapping a number of meridian points and Callahan has developed a variety of tapping sequences, called algorithms, to suit the individual problem that an individual might have. Callahan trained many people in TFT and work continued on research into TFT and related topics. We have trained in a number of modern meridian therapies, including Emotional Freedom Technique, and have extensive experience in the use of the other systems as part of our healing practice.
Emotional Freedom Technique ZPoint Process Although ZPoint Process is not strictly a meridian therapy, in many ways it owes its existence to modern meridian therapies. ZPoint was created by Grant Connolly over the period 2003/4. The procedure is simple and the basic method consists of programming one’s unconscious to resolve inner problems by using a cue word, or phrase, to trigger the unconscious into action when a problem arises. This basic idea is used by Larry Nimms, who trained in Thought Field Therapy with Roger Callahan, which was the first of the modern meridian therapies to be created. After his training Larry Nimms put this to work and began to experiment with TFT until he found that all of the tapping procedures had disappeared and he had created Be Set Free Fast, a method which bypassed tapping on meridian points altogether by simply programming the clients unconscious to use a cue word instead, and using muscle checking to verify how the clients energy field had transformed. ZPoint is a development of this idea, taking it one step further by introducing a much more inclusive protocol, which eliminates the need for muscle checking, thereby making it easy for clients to learn to use all by themselves. Using ZPoint Process Not only is ZPoint easy to use but, when you are adept at it, it can be done without the need for a therapist. ZPoint is a simple process designed to heal all the ways we are in conflict with ourselves and others. It does this by allowing us to release any strong negative feelings and embed positive qualities to fill the space. The mechanisms that ZPoint uses are twofold. Firstly it involves the use of the unconscious mind, which controls most of what we feel or do. The unconscious mind does what we tell it to do, so any conditioning during our lifetime stays in operation until it is told to do something different. The problem we have is that, in our early life particularly, we install coping strategies for the circumstances of the time, which are either useless or actually detrimental to us in the here and now. With ZPoint you consciously reprogramme the unconscious mind to change what you are. The ZPoint process is powerful because of the changes to the unconscious mind. The second mechanism, which has revealed itself as ZPoint has been used to help people with their problems, is that it seems to bring Universal Energy into play with all the concomitant benefits that Energy Healing can bring. Distant & Proxy Healing
Healing does not necessarily require that a person actually be present with
us. Healing can be done absently with the person at a distance. The same
rules apply, such as requiring permission, but otherwise distance is no
barrier to healing. We have worked effectively for people on the other side
of the world. How can this be? Well ancient philosophies and modern quantum
physics tell us that, despite all outward appearances, everything is
connected by a universal field of energy, and since it is this universal
energy we are consciously tapping into when we give healing it makes sense
that on this level of things, distance is no barrier. Healing with Colour We all know that colour can have a tremendously positive and uplifting effect upon our mood, state of mind and general sense of well being. Don’t we all know what our favourite colour is? Aren’t we all enraptured by rainbows and clear blue skies, and don’t we all instinctively know how the colours we choose in our environment can make such a difference to how we feel? Haven’t we all rifled through our wardrobe, pulled something out and immediately put it back thinking, ‘no, I’m not in the right mood for that colour’? If we think about it probably all of these things are familiar to us, so it is not surprising that for thousands of years, the power of colour has been harnessed by healers as an integral part of their art. In Chinese medicine, for example, each element and its associated organ have a colour attributed to it. Practitioners of Healing Tao use this knowledge in specific ways to promote health and well being. Likewise, the charkas have colours attributed to them that can be utilised in a similar way. There are many ways as there are healers of using colour to promote
healing and these days we have the power of modern technology to help us too.
Consequently there are many tools and devices and specialized pieces of
equipment on the market available to the high tech healer. The methods we use
are a combination of the ancient and the modern and we use them in a wide
variety of ways, depending on the needs of the individual. Healing with Sound We all know that sound can have a tremendously positive and uplifting effect upon our mood, state of mind and general sense of well being. Haven’t we all got that favourite piece of music we can turn to that’s guaranteed to lift our spirits or transport us to a place where our problems suddenly seem quite trivial in the greater scheme of things. If we think about it probably all of these things are familiar to us, so it is not surprising that for thousands of years, the power of sound has been harnessed by healers as an integral part of their art. In Chinese medicine, for example, each element and its associated organ have a sound attributed to it. Vibrational remedies If an individual’s healing requires it, we make vibrational remedies using a combination of colour, sound and quartz crystal platonic solids. As well as having a colour and sound frequencies related to them, each of the lower five chakras also relates to one of the five platonic solids (geometric shapes). The cube to the base chakra, the icosahedron to the sacral chakra, the tetrahedron to the solar plexus chakra, the octahedron to the heart chakra and the dodecahedron to the throat chakra. (For more about colour and sound see the relevant pages). By muscle checking the precise combination of colours, sounds and geometric frequencies needed by the individual at that time we can make a remedy in a similar way to which Bach Flower remedies are made. This may be a one-off remedy taken at a precise point in a healing session, or the individual may need to take it over a period of time. These remedies are tailor-made, on an individual basis and are not available for general distribution. Muscle Checking Originally developed as a medical procedure to determine if nerve impulses
were being received by a specific muscle, it was then discovered that a
strong or weak muscle response could also be used as an indicator of the
strength or weakness of the energetic pathway, or meridian, associated with
that muscle. This discovery led to the development of Touch for Health. The
system we use was taught to us by Chloe Wordsworth, creator of Holographic
Re-patterning (now known as Resonance Re-patterning). In this system the
strength or weakness of a muscle is used as an indicator of the energetic
resonance of the whole body-mind energy field. This system postulates that
all muscles have one common characteristic, that of strength or weakness.
This makes it possible to use a muscle like on “on-off” switch to give us
direct feedback from the body/mind about the relative dissonance or integrity
of an individual’s whole energy field on any specified level. If we
are conflicted within ourselves then we lack the necessary energetic
coherence to break out of out self defeating patterns. We end up going round
in the same circle over and over again or stuck with chronic problems that we
seem unable to resolve, no matter how much our conscious minds want things to
change. Muscle checking can be an invaluable tool in helping us identify and
transform these self defeating patterns.
